If you could please help us, it would mean the world!

Rise of Broken Women (RBW) is a multicultural 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to giving women and their families the tools they need to extricate themselves from the circle of poverty.

RBW was founded by Charlee Newman to be used as a resource for women and families experiencing homelessness. She comprehends the specific struggles faced by homeless women and children because of her first-hand experience living on the streets and in a drop-in center.

The organization is comprised of current and formerly homeless women who cultivate their peers’ confidence and skill set to live self-sufficiently and independently of government assistance programs.

About us

Everything at RBW is designed to support the specific needs of the women and families experiencing homelessness. We can rise together and help this vulnerable population out of poverty by providing for their basic necessities while they work on integral changes to overcomes institutionalization and move forward with their lives.

RBW envisions a world where women are capable of exiting the cycle of poverty without having to go through the parrels of navigating all the resources to meet that end. We partner with homeless shelters and low-income communities in order to reach all women and families in New York City looking for a permanent exit strategy from the cycle of poverty.

Our Impact

We were able to provide over 200 families throughout 101 homeless shelters in New York City with menstrual products, toiletries, Christmas toys, winter coats, shoes, school supplies, and other basic necessities. We will continue to provide these necessities and workforce development services to support women and girls with the help from our generous sponsors and individual donations and support.

Work Reacclimating Internship Program (WRIP)

Work Reacclimating Internship Program (WRIP) is a workshop for training women in shelters and in low-income areas, how to use computers. By training them in Microsoft Word and Excel, and write a resume so they can become well-adjusted employees in the workforce. This will allow them to be self-sufficient and independent.

Sponsor a Woman or Girl With Feminine Hygiene Products Packages

Let’s go beyond the basics of support and sponsor a woman or girl and families with monthly menstrual hygiene packages. These packages consist of pads and tampons, and PPE. These basic care-package is a necessity that will help keep them safe and healthy.
